Back to School Again
This post is dedicated to my dear teacher...Oh and by the way he's not the usual school/college teacher...he is one of a kind. Truly, a man of patience I must say! (Handling a lousy student like me takes a lot of patience you see).
30-10-09 was my first day in school. Just as every new student is pretty nervous and jittery about their first day at school, here I was, going through the same emotions. Still wondering what kind of a school a 23 year old is attending? Well, my driving school ofcourse!
Yeah!!...am now a proud student of the PERFECT DRIVING SCHOOL.
Talking of the driving school, I have a little history to share. I had previosuly enrolled myself to another driving school. I was 20 then. As usual I took the month long driving classes and soon the final day of the test arrived. I was all geared up. I told myself, this is it Gracia, your soon gonna hold the car driving license in your hand. Your just a step away from it. All you have to do is pass the test. I thought this should be a complete cake walk. One by one my fellow-students began taking the driving test. The traffic inspector sat beside and commanded 'First gear', 'second gear', 'third gear', 'U-turn', 'Reverse'...I knew it all! Oh yes, I was so damn sure this is gonna be such an easy task.

Soon it was my turn. I sat in the driver's seat, the traffic inspector asked me to put the gears and finally I took a U-turn and came back to the starting point. I stepped out of that car beaming with joy. I thought, this was so easy, anybody could do it. Soon the time came for the results. The inspector had the list of the names of all the students. One by one he began calling out the names...Mahesh- PASS, Priya- PASS, Kiran-PASS, Vivek-PASS.....I was waiting to hear my name and there it came Gracia-...F...A....I....L!!!!!!What? Did I hear it right? I just couldnt believe my ears. I was disappointed. The instuctor who taught me then told me 'Nahi patha madam sirf aapko kyun fail kiya'(I don't know madam why he failed only you in the test)And that day I had decided never again will I ever touch the car, nor will I ever learn to drive the car again.
Now, here I am, three years later...back again to the driving school. With a lot of instigation from family I thought maybe I must do this again. Why not? I told my current driving instructor...I have already failed the test once. So you know am really bad at this. I am not saying I have improved my driving skills. Am still a really bad driver. My instructor, during our daily classes jokingly keeps saying 'Madam aage nayi car khadi hai..jaroor dent karaa dena!'(Madam, there is a brand new car standing ahead, you definitely must leave a dent on it!)
.
I must say this man must have tonnes of patience to handle a terribly bad driver like me. With a few more classes to go before the driving test, I am hoping at least this time around I manage to pass the test...and if I don't I know I can come back to sir again :). I hope he would be patient enough till I finish my learning days at the school.
